Identity Mask

For the mask identity sculpture, I chose to create a mask that represents growth through life. Often times we become unsure of who we are in life, until we begin to grow. I created a cylinder shaped mask, representing everything life throws at you at once. Everything funnels down and sometimes people become overwhelmed and thus insecure, while others grow from. I chose to attach an assortment of pieces of fabric to represent something physically growing on the mask. I chose to capture the mask being worn like a cylinder full of life, but tipping over as it becomes overwhelming.
